The Birth Centenary of Dr. D. V. Gundappa, eminent litterateur, savant, a polyglot, a great patriot, a prominent social worker and founder of the Gokhale Institute of Public Affairs, was celebrated under the joint auspices of the Sahitya Akademi, Delhi and the Government of Karnataka, at Bangalore on August 29, 1987. It was inaugurated by Shri Ramakrishna Hegde, Chief Minister of Karnataka. A seminar was organised on the 30th and 31st when eminent men of letters read papers on different aspects of D. V. G.
